Saab's TTiD engine has been designed to provide instant throttle response throughout the rev range. Two turbochargers, one small, one large, are used, when the driver presses the throttle, the smaller turbo is able to react faster than the bigger unit, so from idle to 1,500rpm it is used. From there the second turbocharger is brought into play, while from 3,000rpm on, the larger one works on its own. This gives the car 400 Newton Metres of torque which makes for a very smooth driving experience and a performance is more than quick enough for most people while providing a superb fuel economy and in this 2011 model saloon, a low CO2 Emissions level of 119 Gm/Km resulting in an annual VED charge (Road Tax) of only £30. This CO2 emissions level and its consequent low road tax was only available in a limited number of 2011 diesel model saloons.
The Saab Bluetooth Mobile Phone Connectivity System allows the hands free use of mobile phones through the cars built in Bluetooth reception and depending on the model of phone allows for “hands free” functions using the steering wheel mounted controls, Voice Activated Dialling and the access of the phones data base and directory that then display on the cars information system immediately in front of the driver. A very useful addition to both the convenience and safety of this vehicle, it is worth noting that all later 9-3 models are equipped with a steering wheel that shows the phone control function, very few actually have that function!
The vehicle has had a total of seven services, the first three were performed by Pentagon Saab of Sheffield with servicing September 2011 at 8,015 miles, in October 2012 at 16,860 miles and in October 2013 at 24,960 miles, the next service was performed at 33,825 miles in October 2014, with all the next three service having been performed by Smith Saab of Sheffield, the first of these in October 2015 at 39,550 mile, then again in October 2016 at 43,971 miles and most recently in on the 12th of October 2017 at 48,611 miles. As part of my usual sales preparation procedure before cars next owner collects the vehicle it will have a full inspection by my preferred local independent Saab service and repair specialists, JP Auto Solutions of Bristol www.jpautosbristol.co.uk with a copy of their report and copy invoices for any maintenance that this inspection should indicate is either necessary or desirable (if any) the vehicle is MOT tested until the 18th October 2018, there are no advisories on the MOT test.
With a CO2 Emissions of 119g/km this cars annual VED charge (road tax) will be only £30.
